Delicate light and color with a great comp! Sunrise or sunset?

Beautiful shot, Jody. I love the light and the pastels, and the layers are excellent. Are these the Castles from the south side?

Sunrise from Storm Pass? Awesome!! What a view!

I've dreamed of, and even planned for, this location, but have never been able to make it happen. Did you hike the North side - base of the Castles? Would love to see images from there.

Love the soft light and the details in all the peaks and ridges. And what a great sky! Nicely done.

Sunrise from Storm Pass (South Side of Castles)

Scott, I did not hike the north side. The hike from the trailhead up to Storm Pass is no easy going except for the start along the valley floor then it stairs steps its way up in to the valley. It has 3 good up hill sections before you reach the upper parts of the valley below the junction for Storm Pass.

The Castles are very intriguing. You have captured them well with your composition and the lighting is fantastic. Nice depth as well to the Elks in the distance. Beautiful work.

This is easily the best shot of the Castles I have seen. Love the spotlight effect and the separation from the background is superb. I've long wanted to do the Storm Pass hike for this view, gorgeous stuff, Jody!

Spectacular shot Jody! I've seen this area from a different angle and a lot farther away. Beautiful processing.

The subtle light here is just wonderful, Jody. I really love everything about this image. Really nice work.

That's a seriously difficult image to obtain. I've recently had trouble making high altitude shots feel rich with composition and this one is does just that; just explodes with perfect comp, let a lone the color is stunning. BTW, can you get some time off next week? Headed to the Elks...and Raggeds..

Sweeet! I was just thinking about the Castles...would love to get closer to them.

Every time I see the castles I always day dream about getting closer to them. They just always seem so distant. I love this perspective and the hint of light you caught is just putting it over the top!

I like the green diagonal slopes and softly lit pinnacles standing against the distant hazy mountain and pastel sky.
