Here's one from last Thursday night, a 15-second exposure at f2.8, 3200 iso.

I don't know...that's an awful lot of dust specks! I'm always amazed at just how sensitive the imagers are on our DSLRs. Looks like there's just a touch of gold there. Nice reflection.

Oh, MOMMY! Well, you beat me to it. I had plans to do that this year. I tried it 2 years ago and failed miserably. This is as surreal as a Dali!
That is really quite stunning. I have a question, not as a critique, but as a curiosity. Why does the water reflect black sky, but all the other colors appear the same as the original object, ie the trees?

Very nice.
Did you use a gradND in the sky?

Michael & Bill: This is a double processed raw file. I lightened the original file to bring out the reflection, merged the two and then hid everything above the lake in the lighter one. I suspect the sky reflection in the original was dark enough to be clipped, so there was no data to lighten. If it's not that, I have no freakin' idea!

Very cool shot and processing! Love it.

just not in to the night-shot-that-looks-like-day thing, what can i tell ya, man. Id crop the bottom 2/3, cause i really like the stars and clouds

Very surreal, I think I would darken the upper 2/3rds to reflect the time the image was taken, but that's just me and my literal interpretations.

Wow. Just unreal. Love how you can see the stars, but still looks like day time.

Very cool. The reflected sky color seems a little funky compared to the real one.

I love it. I know it sort of mixes day & night and some won't care for that, but to me it represents the change from day to night...especially with the vertical crop. It is one of the more unique MB shots I have seen.
