Hello everyone,
I will be headed to Lincoln City, OR next week with my wife for a week's vacation. I would appreciate any suggestions your members might provide on "must see and photograph" locations within a day trip of Lincoln City. Being a midwesterner I am of course particularly interested in seascapes.
I'm looking forward to my first ever trip to Oregon!

In that area I would head to Seal Rocks State Park, Cape Kiwanda, and Oceanside.
Seal Rocks has great rock formations ad sea stacks. Cape Kiwanda has a wide beach and a great big sea stack, plus you can hike up on the sand dune if you want. At oceanside, there is a tunnel that you can go through to get to a beach with nice sea stacks. All of these are going to be best at sunset.
If you are willing to drive a little further north you can get to Canon Beach and Ecola State park, which are also great. Living in Portland, I am not as familiar with the area further south of Seal Rocks.

Thanks Scott, I appreciate your recommendations. We have tentatively planned to get up to Canon Beach & Ecola SP but things are always subject to change. I'll do a little more research into your suggestions and hopefully work them into our list. Thanks for taking the time to share your local knowledge.

Hey Wayne if you go to Ecola SP be sure to check out Indian Beach only 1.5 miles S of Ecola. Not the Grand Vista Ecola is but a very nice smaller beach well worth a look if you're already there. I posted a shot of it in this forum dated 8/11/2011....not a great photo but gives you an idea of what you'll see.

Hey thanks Bruce. I checked out your image and Indian Beach does look like it has a lot of potential. I'll make sure to add it to my notes. I appreciate you letting me know about it.

Check out the tide pools at Yaquina Head lighthouse. At low tides (especially minus tides), they are quite spectacular.

My wife and I are especially looking forward to checking out some tide pools. We have plans to see Yaquina Head lighthouse so we'll try to coordinate the times accordingly. Thanks for the tip Jim.

Indian beach is also nice because it works at most tide levels. Low tides you can get close to the sea stacks / the arch, higher tides you can get a rockier foreground with the stacks in the distance.

Great suggestions above; I think Seal Rocks and Cape Kiwanda would be on my short list. If you want a broad view, Cascade Head has a sweeping vista.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. We're arriving on Wednesday. I'm really looking forward to our time in Oregon.
