Good evening to all my photographer friends.
What date are you anticipating the fall color to begin and peak for the BLue Ridge Parkway from say the Fields of Dan down to Cherokee? I want to hit that stretch for some fall foliage photography and want to plan my calendar to maximize my time. Sggestions from you on locations would be great too!
Thanks and best to you all.

You can figure Oct. 15th, plus or minus a couple of days. I'm at 4000 feet, in Beech Mtn., NC, and the maples are just getting color.

Should give you an idea of the colors in West Virginia in the second week of Oct.

I was up last weekend (as was Richard). Color then was at or near peak from 5200 feet on up (ie Rough Ridge on the slopes of Grandfather Mtn. and Graveyard Fields). At lower elevations color was hit-or-miss (mostly miss). Cataloochee in the Smokies had spectacular maple color at the field margins though -- elevation only 2600 feet (we were there for the elk).
