The Nikon tubes are metal, but they are strictly "manual" tubes, i.e. they have no electrical contacts so provide no AF or metering. However, manual focus is most often used with macro photography (if that's your intended use), and your D7000 can meter with non-CPU lenses meaning it will meter with any lens used with the tubes. The PN-11 tube (52.5mm of extension) is a nice tube as it has a tripod collar. It was made for use with older manual focus 105mm Micro lenses to provide 1:1 magnification. The PK-11A (8mm), PK-12 (14mm), and PK-13 (27.5mm) are other Nikon tubes.
Kenko tubes aren't bad, but they are plastic. They do, however, maintain metering and AF (they have electrical contacts).

I have a set of Kenko tubes for use with my D90. Works fine and has electrical contacts.

Hey Lorna, save yourself the money and go with the Kenko or Pro Master, the plastic bodies of those tubes are plenty durable and lighter in weight.
I've never had a bit of trouble with my Kenko's - highly recommended from me too.

I've used my Kenko tubes with my old D50 and my newer D700 & D7000. They work well and are light enough to always stay in the bag.
