The NWS was calling for 30% chance of thunderstorms this past Saturday and Sat night, so I figured there may be a good chance of a sunset and sunrise at the Canyon. I like the ridge at Lipan Point that makes a nice lead to the west, so I tried to get some images from Lipan. Unfortunately, the small cloud band to the west did not light up, but I liked the layers and the faint light cutting across onto the distant ridges of the north rim.

#2 No great clouds Sunday morning, just the earth shadow and some high layers of smoke.

#3 Telephoto of the s-curve of the Colorado River at Unkar Delta. Some year, I would like to do a river trip.

Yeah, I like #1 for the same reasons as you. Panoramic crop works well for this. My only nit is that I can't see it larger here.
I like the viewpoint of #2, esp. the sliver of river that you captured.
What intrigues me most about #3 are those sinuous hills and draws in the background. Did you raise your camera a bit to focus on them?
And what...you couldn't scare up a rainbow on this trip?!
