Maximum photo size increased!

We have updated the Posting Guiidelines to permit photos to be sized up to 720 pixels on the longest side (including panoramic format). This new maximum size also includes any borders or "fames" you apply to the photo. Maximum file size for any hosted photo remains at 200kb.

We hope you enjoy the larger photos!

It will be interesting to to see some of the nice phtos in a slightly larger format. Us dial up guys that still live in the stone age are glad you didn't increase the file size, too.

That sounds like a good compromise. There are certainly (moving) sweet spots for file size and resolution. I have no comment on where them spots is, because I can't keep up with technology. Just keep attracting great nature photographers and you're meeting my needs.

Thanks Jim. When I suggested this last year, on this forum, I got pretty well shredded. Nobody wanted to increase the pixel size limit. I couldn't understand what part of sharper, more pleasant to view, and more detail, they didn't understand. While it ain't much more, it sure helps.

I would rather have seen the pixel size stay the same and be able to post more than one picture in what ever the time frame is now. I find the one picture limit more of a limitation than pixel or file size has been. I don't mean go to a large number, even posting 2 pictures was better than just one.

I know I'm in a minority on that, but I'll voice it anyway. Who knows, maybe in a year or two, that will get changed to. :wink:
