Hello everyone, I was wondering if anyone has been shooting around the JH area lately. We're headed out for our annual fall shoot and was considering going up there if the colors haven't already passed. Any intel would be appreciated.
Thanks, Mark

It's just getting good in a lot of places and it's been a late season. It's a funny area because parts are already bare but there is still plenty of green. See Amy's post from few days ago, Oxbow Bend is still green in parts. Cottonwoods along Snake River are stunning and the forest service roads south and east of JH have some killer aspens and red underbrush. And I heard the heat will give way to some cooler and more dramatic conditions this weekend. Wish I was still there :frown:

Thanks for the response Aleksandra. I've been out of touch the last six weeks and I'm ready to get out and shoot. It's sounds interesting enough to go up there. I'll let everyone know what I find. Thanks again, Mark

I live in Victor, Idaho
I checked fall color Thursday afternoon. Colors are prime in many area. I'm going to be at Oxbow Sunday morning before sunrise. I think in one week it will be past prime. Idaho side is one week from prime.

Was just there earlier this week. Should be a great weekend and next few days. Like Aleks said, it was just getting going when we left. I've got a few pix posted on this forum from Wednesday morning. I did see a fire near the base of the mtns (jenny lake lodge area) on www.jacksonholenet.com webcams. Not sure what that's about. Good luck!

Mark if you haven't left here's some recent information. The Park Service has started a couple of controlled burns along with the natural burns. They started these burns in Death canyon and Phelps Lake. The smoke has carried North and has affected the Oxbow area. If anyone reads this you can send a e-mail to Rick Howe Director of Visitors Services Chamber of Commerce in Jackson. He's collecting information of the affect of the fires started by the park service during prime foilage time over the past few years. His e'mail is rick@jacksonholechamber.com
