Seems kind of quiet here in the forum--guess everyone is out shooting while i work...
Anyhow--the time is shortly approaching when a large chunk of the NPN membership descends upon the Mecca of Zion Canyon for fall colors and canyon glory! I usually like being surprised by all the members i run into out there, but how about some advance warnings this season--who is going to be out there end of October or beginning of November??
(Hint--i hope to be!)
I may be out there depending on my schedule. I think Hank's got a great idea of going late. It seems the colors change later almost every year. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't peak until the middle of November this year.

I've seen the same thing, but I have "ulterior motives" especially for the early December leg. The little draws off the road to the east entrance often have puddles that freeze overnight, then thaw again during the day. In the process they form brilliant ice patterns including bubbles, while sometimes trapping the small red maple leaves. Wahoo! Anyone going there earlier should always take a peek up that way early in the morning, which isn't the best light in the valley anyway.
My wife and I will be heading out in the beginning of Nov. for a week. She's never been, I've been 1x but so much to see and do. Hope to run into you all out there.
