Love it!!!! Going forward, I think I'll keep this article top of mind. It will at least challenge me into different techniques. But, I still like my silky water.

Geez..there goes my whole portfolio down the tubes.
I'll add one more to this list - a personal Stan Rose favorite. The lone sunflower shot in the middle of a sand dune. How hackneyed is that one? I think there is one of those pictures in every photography book I own. Anyways, I am sucker for flower - alpine lake shots and slow water speed has its place and can be utilized creatively. Overall, the list is pretty impressive, especially the comments about faux impression.
I'm guilty of both the silky water and icon hunting. I always say that they are icons for a reason right? That said, I try to find unique shots as well.
Ha! Thanks for letting the cat out of the bag, John--i was trying to lay low under this big foreground rock
Michael--yeah, but those are just sunflowers, my shots are really of little people disguised as sunflowers

Stan, I sat down (gingerly) to my computer this morning thinking how much fun growing old would be if it weren't accompanied (at least in my case) by incurable lower back pain, when I stumble across John Mumaw's post about your article. Now, I'll read ANYthing John posts, even jalapeno recipes (and I avoid jalapenos like the you wouldn't believe). So, I had to click on the mention of your article, too. You sir, just might be the cure to morning lower back pain. I say, "might," because if I said, "are," then we'd both probably get into trouble with the FDA.
Thanks, Stan, for a much needed laugh and a delightful start to my day.
What a riot. And it's that funny because it's TRUE!
I would like to add any shot of Mesa arch. I once went to an art show and 10 out of the 13 photograhers had a shot from there displayed.
Yes, now I know what to post here to annoy Stan! Score!!!!

Stan, I enjoyed the read and samples. Nice veiling of truth under the humor and satire.
Guess I really need to stop by Horseshoe Bend on the next trip to Page.

THANK YOU Stan for #1! If I see that silver-washed milky effect with halos that you can measure with a wood ruler ONE MORE TIME, I'll likely detonate, lol!

Anyway, it's virtually guaranteed that you will not see this piece soon in 'Outdoor Photographer' magazine.
Well done, sir!!
P.S. 'Elk' is never used with an 's' in its plural form.
