I went back up to Teton and Yellowstone last week and finally made it through several of the images. I decided to actually try my hand at some landscape work since the colors were nice. As most of you know, I am by no means any ind of landscape photographer, so any help and tips would be greatly appreciated!
Also, I honestly don't know what the "typical" comp is on these places (except for Oxbow Bend and if I was there Maroon Bells), so I apologize ahead of time if they end up being copycat comps. I hope they are sort of unique.
This first set is Teton. I will post some of Yellowstone in my next post.
The first one is Schwabacher's Point (but most of you probably already knew that, right?)

Oxbow Bend (backwards...looking the opposite direction for something different)

A location near Oxbow

I looked at this after posting and felt my first image was lacking a little contrast and looked a bit flat. Here is a different processed version. Wonder if it works better?

Nice job Kurt. Like the mist coming off the water in the Oxbow Bend image.
Like that fog lifting at Oxbow- nice capture Kurt. - Where are the Elk rut shots at the Madison?

Love that 3rd one Kurt!

Kurt, I like the light and low fog at Oxbow of #3, and the light beams of #4 that you captured. You might also convert #4 to B&W as those aspens will really stand out against the background and the brightest clouds would not be as noticeable. The light rays will be nice also.
In the Schwabacher Landing image #1, i personally find the grass in the lrc too intrusive (maybe crop off the bottom quarter and make it more pano?) and am having difficulty separating the sunlit peak from the clouds. I wonder if you could selectively darken the gray clouds right along peakline a little to help.
The Barn shot turned out nice with the bison. (Maybe crop the bottom some to rid the trampled grass in the llc?)
For preferences, my first choice would be the bison at the barn, and then #1 with a pano crop.
Hope you do not mind my suggestions.
Doug

Doug, I don't mind the suggestions at all and they are exactly what I was asking for, so I appreciate you taking the time. Like I said, I am mostly a wildlife guy and I really haven't done landscape other than 3 or 4 times, so my experience there is very limited. Thanks again for all the help. I will makes some of those changes later today!

This is a fine series, Kurt! My favorites are...all of them. I like your reworked version of #1. Doug had some great advice, none of which I can dispute. If you can do this well at landscape photography, then perhaps I have a better than even chance with wildlife photography!

Really like number 3. The mist coming off the water makes it rather exceptional.
