Russ, beautiful comp and conditions! Way to make this one happen; it takes incredible planning to be there at that time to capture the beauty. WB seems a bit cool for my taste.

Holy crap!! This is fantastic! one of my favorite places on earth. Damn! I wish I could have gotten up there this fall! Excellent work Russ. Agree with Kane, it does look slightly cool.

My toes would agree, it was slightly cool! Thanks for taking time to comment you guys.
Very nice Russ. I'm loving that blue sky with just a touch of pink!

Well, I guess I won't enter the fall photo contest this year!!! This is fantastic Russ...everything about says HOMERUN!!

A classic Colorado autumn scene! Well done, Russ! Where is this located?
There is a strong cyan cast especially evident in the snow. If you lose it, you'll still have that 'chilly' feelin'.

John, thanks! It's county road 7, off highway 62, west of Ridgeway.

This is ridiculous in the very best of ways, Russ. One of the finest fall photos I've seen so far this year. Love it!

Fabulous,Russ!
I assume this was shot Friday morning? I was out there Wednesday evening, but had to get back to Denver for a wedding and birthday party.

Wow! What a difference from this view last year. You have a great image here Russ
I think warming the WB will help the yellow aspens also, but not too much that you lose the coolness of the snow completely. To me, the sky in the upper right gradiates a little too dark.

Sheez, Russ. That is really nice! Everything definately came together. I'm seeing the same cyan cast, but easy to fix if you want to.

Thanks everyone for all the encouraging comments. I think I'm going to keep the colder color cast. Artistic license and homage to my frozen toes!

Man i hate you Russ, cause i would have been there if could have managed--but this is just friggin incredible, hands down best Sneffels shot ive ever seen. Warm it up, and if you enter it in the contest hope no one holds it against you.
Ok--i just read your last remark--so let me clarify: REMOVE THE CYAN! cool is fine, but its a little too cyan.

Just awesome. I'm not even going to enter the fall contest this year . Beautiful colors and conditions. Nicely done.
Posted by Russ Shugart on October 10, 2011 at 10:24 PM
Stan, thanks, I think!?!? Just kidding! So you really think I should warm it up? Alright I'll give it a try. I did keep the "remove blue" adjustment layer and then dialed a little back in before saving it.
I hate to say it but this is, in my opinion, not the best Sneffels shot I got this year. I tried to post it but I forgot about the one every 24 hour rule. I'll post it tomorrow.
I think this is really a stunning composition. I'm not all that bothered by the WB. It's a great setting in beautiful light.

Then save it for the Fall Colors Contest!!

Absolutely beautiful, Russ. It is amazing the difference that can occur over a few days. I was just here on 10.1.2011 but this location takes on a completely different character in these conditions. Personally I like the cool color temperature as it emphasizes the conditions. I might have to see a warmer version before I make a final call though.

Epic!!

Soooooo very nice!!! Why did I sleep in? This is awesome!
Damn, Russ, we see a lot of good renditions of this area, but you hit it out of the park here! I see what Stan means about the cyan, but it's not bothering me. Maybe dial it back a little to see how that looks, but it conveys a chilly autumn morning to me just as it is.

Jimmy, 4:30 AM seemed like such a bad idea at the time but I'm glad now. Were you down there last week?
Posted by Kane Engelbert on October 11, 2011 at 12:51 AM
I'll re-comment; Russ comes across as a COOL kind of dude. I keep poking him with my "cool" WB comments and nothing changes. It's his technique, his style; I respect that in the upmost way. Going forward, I'll look at his shots from his perspective.

Incredible Russ! The snow really lifts the image to new levels. Striking contrasts in color and light. Well seen and captured.

Beautiful Russ. It was well worth the frozen toes to come back with this capture! Great work!
