Aspen Impressions (Beware Stan)
Here's a few from my fall trip a couple of weeks ago. I don't often shoot images like this on purpose but it I just needed some time to try a few different things. Maybe it's called photo art or impressionism, however you want to classify them they were all done with in-camera motions during slow shutter speeds with only color, contrast and sharpness adjusted in PS. Sorry in advance to Stan since these represent one of his Pet Peeves.

"Rivendell" Red Mountain Pass along Crystal Lake. (Up-down motion).

Ok, Josh, you're gonna hear from me whether you like it or not!
I'll preface my remarks by saying i don't claim to be the last word, im just gonna give you my honest opinion as i always do, but this time since the timing is apropos im going to be extra honest, just for you, Josh!

Here's the deal:
#1: Awesome! Beautiful work. Original, fresh. I love the mix of detail and simplicity, and the transition form blur to clear at top, and it just glows! One of the better of this genre ive seen.
#2 Looks like it got ran over by farm equipment. It doesn't belong in this set. Been there, seen it (too many times  )
#3 Love it! Very original, love how you used the swirl to mimic the wind--creative. The only problem is that now people are going to run out and copy you, but at least you were the first (ive seen)
#4 Ive seen too many of these . They hurt my eyes!
#5 Somewhat interesting, vibrant--i just dont care for it personally.
#6 Looks like a blurry photo to me. That's why i wrote my peeves.

Hey, 2 out of 6 is a good result if you ask me, Josh! I should be so lucky...

Great concept and excellent execution. It's hard to pick a favorite, but I think I like "swoosh" and "wind" the best.

Oh man! Now I'm dizzy!! 1 and 4 are outstanding! :toast:

Very, very creative and such lovely colors! I like e'm all with special nods to 'Radial', Wind', and 'Forest Bars'.
Simply outstanding, Josh. What shutter speed did you favor to capture these?

I like every single one of them except that last one. It's not doing much for me, but the others are unique to what I've seen. I really like the Radial shot. :toast:

These are neat, Josh! I'm with Stan that 1 and 3 are the standouts. That solid, unbroken, luminous gold in #1 makes it look like paradise, and the details ground it a bit; while #3 works best for me as a pure abstract.

1 and 4, the others make me sea sick....especially 2 and 5. Nice meeting you BTW!

Here's the deal:

No, HERE's the deal:
Really nice, inventive collection, Josh!!! I especially like "Wind" and "Forest Bars."

Nice work Josh. Like number 1-3. Number two is a real standout. Art in nature for sure.

I like #1. Maybe because it gives a sense of a foggy softness with minimal detail without the fog.
Of the other motion images, Forest Bars and Radial, would be my picks.

1, 3, 4 are very good, the rest take away from the set imo. Everyone here has a different opinion though haha, the only thing we seem to agree on is #6 has to go

I especially like "Wind" Josh! It has a really nice brushed quality to it.
Posted by Don George on October 11, 2011 at 10:14 AM
Very creative. I also vote for the Wind.

Wind is gorgeous! Way to go looking at the same old trees and having fun with it! And thank God the rest of the world doesn't revolve around what Stan has to say

Really cool ideas, Josh -- for me Wind is the standout. It has just the right mix of elements to make it unique and attractive.

All are interesting but "Wind" is in a whole other class!!!
