Ridgefield Birdfest Photo Winner
The Friends of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge celebrated "Birdfest 2011" this past weekend. As part of the annual celebration they announced the winners of their 5th Refuge Photo Contest and I was surprised to find that two of my images had placed. My Great Blue Heron with garter snake won 1st and another of a Great Horned Owlet (see below) won an honorable mention. After several years of entering non-winners it was nice to have these recognized over what is normally very stiff competition. The contest is promoted and sponsored by Pro Photo Supply, Portland OR.

Couldn't be more pleased to hear this news, Craig! So well deserved for all the years of work in perfecting your image making, I've been thinking that this has been your best year ever. Both photos are fantastic, but the one of the heron really is spectacular! Heartiest congratulations! :toast:

Congrats and well deserved. Both images are absolutely stunning. You might enter them into national contests and see where they go.

Congrats Craig. I assume the entries don't have to be shot at Ridgefield? After all how could that be verified.
