Big Pano
Here's another from last from last week. I decided to try a 6 shot stitch of yes, my favorite spot. Editing this just about killed my computer. The finished tif file is a 10051x3290 pixel 730 MB. I hope it looks good printed. I'm going to find out soon.

Nice shot Russ. Great comp. Might be your best shot yet. There's a bit of distortion/field curvature going on here, although most people wouldn't notice. Sneffles is seems "pointy. "

Phenomenal, Russ. I love good (and big!) panoramics, and this one is top-notch.

From my own printing of them, I usually find 200dpi is enough, so you might be able to get a 16x48" out of this if you want to. Just be forewarned that framing the d@mned things gets ridiculously expensive...

It deserves it, though. Don't let this one languish on the hard drive.

Best "fall" shot I've seen this year. From anyone.

Sweet shot Russ!

'Nice shot'?!? This is absolutely stunning!! Easily the best image from your trip (so far).
The contrast between the cool tone of the sky and the warmth of the landscape are remarkable. I would love to see a large print of this scene. No nits or suggestions from me at all.
Please do not enter this in the Fall Colors contest.

Thanks again so much to everyone for the encouraging posts. It's pretty humbling considering the work I see here every day.

I've heard mention a couple of times about a fall contest. Is it out of this forum or somewhere else?

This is just fantastic, Russ, bloody good! I would love to see it big. Any distortion is the last thing on my mind when I'm looking at it.

You know it's kind of weird here. The aspens on both sides of the valley lean into the middle. If you are shooting one side or the other it's very obvious. I do have one single wide angle shot that's not a bunch stitched together that accentuates this lean to the middle.

I hope I don't hex it but if everything works out I should have this one, printed about 6 feet long, in a new gallery opening up down in LoDo.the first of next month.

Excellent, along with the right framing this will surely be hanging on someone's wall soon.

Russ,

Do you think the "leaning" of the aspens is objectionable? In photoshop, {select all}, then go to {edit > transform > perspective}. perspecitve will let you pull out the corners and force the apparent tilt to stay consistent on each side.

Or select the left and right half independently and use {edit > transform > distort} to pull out the bottom outer corner. If you hold down the shift key while dragging with the mouse, the point is forced to remain horizontal.

Try it with a small version first as a test run...

(again, awesome!)

Extraordinary view, Russ. The mix of gold and greens combined with those stormy skies is spectacular.
