Umm, somewhat underwhelming. Can't see the merging of the D & Ds as a good move for them, and the Mp drop is poor too. Certainly doesn't make me want to exchange the 5DII nor the 1Ds3 for one! In fact, it sounds like a stop-gap camera for a recession hit world!

Ed. in fact Gizmodo unwittingly sums it up when it says... "There are a lot of reasons the 1D X might be the most ridiculous DSLR ever made..."

Not sure. I am underwhelmed with the 5DIIs IQ, I have been wanting Canon to come up with a fast FF camera with lower res for some time, now they have dropped res, speeded up and used FF sensor. I think alot of people shooting Canon looked to the Nikon 3Ds for inspiration....and now we have a decent number of pixels, the large sensor, the speed but also the price. I like it, I wanted this, 21MP was not needed IMO and I thing the 5DII could have been a better camera with less. I certainly look at my old 5D shots and prefer them to the new model. So I am awaitng a 5DIII with 16MP and 8fps ;)

As you know Graham I have a MKIV and two 5DMKII bodies (one is permanently rigged for video in the safari truck). Unlike Neil I love my 5's to bits but like Neil I would certainly upgrade one of them for an 8fps version
