I shoot the Nikon 200-400Vr zoom lens for birds in flight and am looking for something to help with the weight of the lens when shooting. I saw the above mentioned support system in Wildbird magazine and I would like to know if anyone has used this setup for BIF shots. If so how straight up can you shoot with this system? Any recommendations will be appreciated. Ray Dove

Just looking at it, I think you would have to be a contortionist or flat on your back to shoot straight up

I think you're right , Phil. I was also seeking info on alternative methods of support if anyone has any suggestions. Ray

How about the BushHawk shoulder mount?

A good ol lightweight monopod works very well. Easy to lift the whole setup for high or low angle shots when needed, but pod takes all the weight when you need it to.

I use this and it helps reduce the pressure of the camera weight on your neck . It comes up easily, no problem. You can walk very easily and comfortable.
