I have not been able to get out to my favorite fall location, nor could I go there if I had the time--Stevens Pass road to Rainier is closed for the season. So, I visited a few local spots-cemeterys (quite a bit of color), Cowiche Canyon (lots of bright sumac) and Yakima River Canyon (not much color, yet).
We are going to Boise for the BSU vs. Air Force football game Saturday. Maybe I'll find some good scenery then.

Beautiful backlit color. Must be Halloween time!
On the road climbing between Longmire and Paradise the Vine Maple were brilliant on Monday; I'll bet they look great in Stevens Canyon right now.
Love those sugar maple leaves! It's ironic that some of the best fall color in the PNW is found along streets and shopping center parking lots. That's because a lot of those ornamental trees are sugar and red maples, two of the best trees in the world for vibrant fall foliage!
