I'm conducting a workshop and one of my attendees using a Canon 7D is having a problem which I cannot solve. Any help would be appreciated.
Her camera is for no apparent reason jumping shutter speeds by huge factors on successive shots. One shot will be fine at say 1/4 sec and the very next one she tries the camera will select 25 seconds even though she left it at 1/4. She has changed batteries, restored all settings to factory default and no help. What's worse is that it is not consistent. It will work fine for a few hours and then have this happen and then go away again. I can't for the life of me think of anything she's doing that could cause it.
Would a firmware reinstall perhaps help because it does seem like a software thing?
Thanks,
John

What are the other settings she is using TV, P, AV??? Also what are you shooting that needs 1/4? What ISO is being used?
Need more info before we can suggest anything.

Check the basics:
- does this happen with more than one lens, or just a specific lens
- Canon brand or non Canon lens
- clean all electrical contacts

Ask: has the camera ever been wet?
