I don't mean to step on Jimmy's toes here, and it's somewhat presumptuous of me to instigate this since I'm relatively new and unknown, but...
It's looking a lot more likely that I can make it down this weekend, so I wanted to propose an informal get-together. For anyone who's in Zion this coming weekend, want to meet for dinner or weak Utah beer at the Mexican place in Springdale, 8:00pm on Saturday 10/29?
It's on the south side of the street just west of David West's gallery, across the street and east of the pizza place. It's pretty good for a gateway town (although Jimmy or anyone else from areas with larger Latino populations will find it acceptable rather than excellent). It's also one of the few places in Springdale open relatively late.
I'm open to a different place or a different time, but it will be solidly dark by 7:00pm, giving plenty of time to get to town. And 8:00 isn't so late that we'll be threatening any early-morning starts.
Hope I'm not out of line,
Mark.

Cool! I am at Oscars now...love that place. However, a new place in town would be cool.
Sorry not to get back to you guys yesterday; work has been crazy as I've had to set up for being away Friday. Kane, I'd love to shoot something that involves some climbing/scrambling/hiking. Anything up to class 3 is fine...
Jimmy, I'll try to be there on time at 8:00pm, and you can regale me with stories of authentic fish tacos and shrimp burritos. Cafe Soleil, on the east side of the road near the park entrance, has good salads, for a third option. In the summer, a place called "Blondie's", sort of across from the David West gallery and a little East, has killer milkshakes. A bit cold for that right now.

Koveh Tavakkol and I are currently on an extended tour of some of the lesser frequented areas of S. Utah and we ran across many disreputable ne'er-do wells like Mark Metternich, Alex Mody and Jimmy Gekas haunting the Zion area.
They oughta be plenty ripe for your rendezvous next Saturday!
Jimmy and Kane,
Great to meet both of you and to get the chance to shoot with you. I'd hope to do it again somewhere, some time in the future.
Stan, good to meet you, however briefly, Saturday night. Hope the light was good and the color better.
I don't know if I'll make it back down next weekend as work is already intruding... I might have to stick closer to home and hit Capitol Reef instead. Best of luck to everyone in the late stage of autumn!
