Canyon dawning
I made a quick run down to Castlewood last week and actually caught a nice sunrise for a change.

Anybody see any issues with this one? Thanks for looking.

Nope, no issues from me Morris. This is a perfectly lovely and peaceful early morning capture. Nicely balanced comp too.

You better not post this one in ESS...it might just win!! Nice all the way through on this one Morris. Nice color and comp!

Morris, Nice tequila sunrise and placement of the pine behind the changing oak and sandstone. The dark triangular space at the bottom between the sandstone wall and the oak brush tends to pull my eye down there, away from the sunset (maybe lose half of it and still have the leading sandstone lines and some dark triangle?).

This is a very enjoyable image, Morris. That sunrise is beautiful with the contrasting warm / cool tones. The composition works well despite being a little heavy on the RHS. All of the elements flow together and lead my eye throughout the scene to the fantastic color in the sky.

Love that color gradient in the clouds. Nice shot!

Interesting comp, Morris-i like it! The tree in the bg feels just a tad off to me--maybe darker (??) or it could just be the compression.

This is easily the nicest photo I've ever seen from Castlewood Canyon. Nice comp, gorgeous light and great autumn colors.

This has your signature look, Morris. A truly lovely scene. I love the way the arc of the canyon wall recedes, and leads the eye through the scene. The large tree does make this appear a bit heavy on the right side, but that's a nit. Nice work.

Beautiful shot Morris. Lots of elements to keep the eye moving through the frame. I would be MORE than proud of this one were it mine.

Thanks everyone. :wavey:

Doug, there is more detail in the dark area in my tiff, but they always go darker when posting here, and even if I try to correct beforehand, I rarely get it right. But, I will think about that crop, and thanks for the input.
Stan, see above. Still, it might could use a little more dodging in the tiff. Thank you, too. :wavey:

Hmmmm, I can see tons of detail in "the dark triangle".....

Morris, now I am seeing some detail as Pam noted.

Oh, good, thanks, Pam! Maybe just some dodging to bring it up in balance with the rest of the foreground? Or would that look unnatural?

No issues with me Morris. You did a grab job with the composition to lead the eye back through the image. The light balance is also very nice.

No issues here...and I tried hard to find one!
Simply a very fine composition with rich colors and gorgeous scenery. Excellent work all the way around, Morris!
