I'm sick of dealing with labs and am highly considering buying a Canon iPF6300 soon, does anyone have advice on where to get the best deal? So far the best I've found is from itsupplies for $2500, it seems like I missed the boat earlier this year when they could be had for under 2k. If there are any used ones out there I would be interested as well...
Also does anyone know approxiametly how long the inksets last in this printer? I've been trying to figure out the ROI and this is the only unknown cost. Can I get through a whole 50' roll? More? Less? I'm clueless in this regard
Thanks for any advice!

Can't help you on the Canon printers. However, you might want to check out the Epson 4900. There is a $700 off sale on till the end of this month. It gets you the printer for ~ $1,700.
For that price, there is a company in Parker that will deliver it to your house and set it up for free! They had one at the Digital Worflow seminar last weekend in Denver. I was really tempted, but at this time, I'm not doing enough printing to justify the inventory of paper and ink. Drop me an email and I'll look up the contact info, if you are interested.

Thanks Bill, I'm really in need of the 24" though, most of what I print is between 16x24 to 24x36. Those epson's were impressive but after doing my research after that seminar I'm leaning heavily toward canon. The constant clogging of epson heads does not appeal to me at all

Yeah the 24" width is certainly a sweet point.
I certainly had a lot of clogging problems with the early Epson printers, however, from my experience they appear to have almost eliminated that issue. I've left my 3800 unused for months and never had to force a cleaning cycle.

David: As soon as I can make room for one in my office I'm buying a Canon 24" printer. Haven't decided which one yet, but the 6300 is in the running. Seems like Atlex typically has some good deals on them, including free shipping (which can be expensive on such a big, heavy item). Last time I checked they were giving away an entire extra set of inks (not the starters) and a few packs of fine art paper with the purchase of one. Pretty damn good deal.

Thanks Bret, they have the same price as itsupplies but I will give them a call tomorrow to see if they can give me those extras you're talking about.

They might be able to hook you up, David. It was just a special they were running a couple months ago and I don't know if they'll be willing to work with you on it but it's worth asking.

They're hooking me up Bret, I'll be ordering one next week and you should be getting something for the referral as well ;)

Awesome, thanks! I will be buying my printer through them as well just as soon as I free up space in my office.
