PA "Endless Mountains" Awards
I’m happy to report that two of my images won 1st and 2nd place in the “Animal/Bird” Category of the Pennsylvania Endless Mountains Visitors Bureau 2011 Photo Contest (more about their organization here: http://www.endlessmountains.org/.)

This is the second year in a row I’ve garnered first prize in this category, with my photo “Black Bear on Main” (Forest City) taking the top spot this year (attached). Last year, "The Apparition" got first place.

Second place for 2011 went to my personal favorite, “Mink on Thin Ice” (Stillwater Lake, Union Dale), which I was extremely fortunate to see and capture in the open. (I'll post that one next.)

Interestingly I guess, both were "one-shots", I had literally one chance to get each animal in the frame in a good pose. No camping out for hours, just a bit of luck. ;)

Just thought I'd post here for something new...

Unrelated, I'll also be taking part in a national traveling exhibit involving the Route 6 Artisan Trail... I've loaned four pieces to the show "West to East & Back Again" as it moves east across PA, then back out west along Route 6, finally making stops along the national Route 6 corridor, and showing in every one of the "Lower 48" states--over a two or three-year period!! More on that later, thanks for looking!!

Congratulations, Bill, and yes, I agree, the mink photo really stands out! It's nice and sharp, the light on the animal is perfect, and the reflection is the icing on the cake. Seriously, if there's any kind of Mink Protection Society or something like that, they'd surely be interested in this picture.
