The site was designed and produced by our own Jesse Spear and Jack Brauer, at WideRange Galleries. I can't say enough about what a pleasure it was working with these guys and what a great product they have.
I would appreciate any comments or critiques on the website. One of the more unique features is the home page, which is essentially a full screen slideshow. I would be interested in comments about how long it took to load and if was too long. It's almost instantaneous with my connection but I realize some people may not have as fast a connection. There is a balance between file size/quality and download speed and I hope I reached a good balance.
Thanks for taking a look!

Congratulations on getting this baby going! It's a lot of work but you made the most of it and came away with a winner! Amazing imagery, especially liked your Iceland shots Beautiful flow to all of it !

Congratulations. Scott! I really am enjoying your website, particularly the "Autumn" gallery
since I was in the San Juans a month ago.

I like EVERYTHING about your website. The design and contents are superb.
No problem with the slideshow loading time. The full screen view is especially nice.
I hope you plan to add more images to the slideshow.

Thanks everyone for your comments so far. Bill, the problem with adding more is it takes longer to download, but if it's loading fast I might be able to add a couple more.

I am a huge fan of Jesse and Jack's work and love how you have come up with something original but which still preserves the great architecture and openness that characterizes many of the websites they create. Congrats!

I don't understand the slideshow. Each photo is bleached out on the left side. I looked at it on two monitors, and it looks
the same way on both. Is that effect on purpose? If it is, it is counterproductive.

Arthur, it is an effect that was done as a way to make sure that whatever photo was underneath you could still see the menu on the left. I do understand your viewpoint and will take a look at that, it may be better not to carry that effect past the menu bar. Thank you for your comment.
Congrats on your website Scott. The functionality and design are excellent. I like the background color a lot too.

Scott - great looking site, elegant design and very functional. Nice work by you, Jack and Jesse.
I'm on a 1920x1200 monitor and the slideshow images are clearly pixelated. I like the idea of the full-screen slideshow, but if it's stretching images to accommodate all monitor sizes, you lose control over the quality. It looked GREAT on my Android phone though.

Rick, thanks for that input. I have a 1920x1200 screen on my laptop as well, but I never have my browser window sized full screen since most websites don't go that wide. It is interesting that with the slideshow running with my browser window only taking up about half the width of the screen, I can grab the corner to pull the window wider and after making only about 10% bigger a grey screen shows up on the right side, the images don't continue to stretch. But if I go to a different page, open the browser window to full screen and then switch back to the homepage, the slideshow images do stretch all the way and I see the pixelation you talk about. I think I will try larger/higher quality files to see if I can get rid of the pixelation. It seems to load fast enough so maybe that will work. Thanks again for everybody for your comments.

Yeah, slide show images are pixellated. But take the comments with a grain of salt ... we all have big monitors.
Quality is probably fine, just try a larger dimension.
