We made our second trip into Twin Falls on Sunday. I drove down to the Hill Cemetary and found the old road trace to follow. We overshot the falls and ended up on a bluff overlooking Richland Creek. We then had to go back up the steep mountain side and work our way back. We did find a way down and reached the creek about a 100 yards above the falls. I didn't even look for a way down below the falls. Upon leaving, we followed the creek for a ways until we came to another waterfall, then scrambled up the steep slope to rejoin the old road trace.
My question is if this is the toughest waterfall to reach in the Ozarks? I am hoping other popular falls are not near as tough. I have plans to someday visit Bowers, Tea Kettle, Compton, and a few others. Piney Bowls is now at the top of my list. The hike yesterday was 3.5 miles in, and 2.8 out with an elevation change of 500 feet. Nothing is marked now, and it was all guess work on getting down to the falls.

Jan, if I'm guessing correctly, the bluff you were at looks straight up the gut of Richland Creek, a really nice view. I've dropped down from there before, which wasn't too difficult. There really isn't an easy way down from the old road bed. I think of the waterfalls you mentioned, Twin Falls is clearly the most difficult to get to, but I would highly recommend taking a good GPS along when exploring any of them.

Jan,
From my single successful attempt to get to Twin Falls I determined that dropping down just above(about40 yards) the Big Devils Fork component of these falls was the easiest for me and when I went back uphill there was a spot where it was pretty rocky with several medium tress to hold onto and those rocks seemed real stable...giving me some handholds and careful spots to put my feet where I could makek my way back up that steep hill...very slowly. That climb back up is the worst...
And when you stand on top of those falls if you follow the bluff on the left(Big Devils) there is a good way down below the falls right there so you can get in a good shooting spot.

Thanks guys, I am relieved to know it is one of the tougher ones to reach. I now have a gps track I can adjust and use for future trips.
