Snow in Sedona
Have spent the week in Sedona enjoying mostly blue skies and too much work. However, today offered some great photography conditions after a rain/snow storm overnight.

#1 is a view of red rock to the north east taken from airport mesa.

#2 From the car park at West Creek.

#3 All the best scenes seemed to be 2 minutes from car...

That is a nice series Stephen. I love the snow pictures.

The snow adds such a nice additional element in these. The proverbial icing on the cake. And a great sunset in the last one.
A very well done series.

The snow adds quite a lot to the red rocks, imo. I like the first two images the most. The foreground brush in #5 is croppable, imo. Did you get to the first undercut pool at West Fork?
I was at Red Rock Crossing last evening hoping for a nice sunset over Cathedral Rock, but it was not to be. I did notice those brilliant orange clouds behind me though; glad you caught them.

Man, I've only been through Sedona once and dreamed of having conditions like these. Excellent shots!!!

Thanks all.

Doug - my wife and I were parked farther back on Upper Red Rock Road waiting to see if the light would break on Cathedral Rock. Have to admit, I feel asleep in the car while Alice was scouting the view, only to be woken suddenly and ordered to drive north ASAP. The light was spectacular while it lasted. You're probably right on the foreground - it was the best there was to hand, but isn't exactly compelling material.

Todd - likewise! I've looked at that Tom Till shot in the Martrès book for a number of years and dreamed of seeing it like that.

Cool! #2 is SWEET!

I think #1 is my favorite followed closely by 2. But to be completely nit picky the sliver of the blue sky in #2 bugs me. I wish there was either more of it for context or cropped out to make the composition cleaner. Just my 2 cents but snow and red rocks are always a winner so congrats!

I would say that #2 certainly captures the essence of Sedona ... and the wonderful conditions.

My favorite is #4. I love the detail in the trees and canyon walls. No sky is really necessary. Nice!

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Aleks - good observation on the blue sky: now I see it, I do agree. Just have to work out how to overcome my allergy to 2x3 aspect ratio in order to lose it!

Like how the clouds appear to be on fire in the last image. Great light.
