Moods
Late morning sun provides warm bounce light on the left wall of this narrow canyon, while the blue skies above cool down the right.
It never ceases to amaze me the color palette that the camera sensor (or film) can pick up in these types of locations that the human eye simply does not see.
Zebra Canyon is an apropos name for this lovely slot canyon located in the Escalante region of S. Utah. It's an extremely tight fit once you get past the knee to waist deep pools of water that guard the entrance, and after a short scramble up a meter high sandstone wall.
Thanks to Koveh Tavakkol for his assistance and fine company here and in other locations.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

That light is crazy John! What a difference in the 2 halves. I like how you get pulled right in to the scene.

Moods? I say smooth jazz stylings, my friend! Sweet shot.

This looks pretty great to me, the balance in the cool and warm tones and the leading lines of the composition all point to a top notch effort.

Very, very nice...

A beautiful shot my friend. You truly did this place justice with this shot. Beautifully processed!

Also, it was my pleasure to explore the area with you. :toast:

Perfect.

Solid take on the place, John, the rhythm of the undulations in the walls works very well here.

This really leaps off the 'page'. Beautiful work.

Zebra is a great slot, and this is a very nice shot of it. It's not to easy to get the light you need for a good shot here, which is why I really need to go back. Good job, as usual!

I guess I should have some constructive critique, but nothing comes to mind.

This is a beautiful image. Not as a critique, but as an additional option, the bottom half of this image makes a great stand alone shot. Look at a square crop from the bottom, it's a pretty amazing detail.

Awesome take on Zebra! Glad you and Koveh made it there without much water difficulties. Looking forward to more images from your trip. :toast:

Beautiful image John, I can't find anything to improve upon. I like the depth of field all the way through the image and the composition is right on.

I can imagine that this would look great printed large on watercolor paper. :toast:

Excellent image, John. As you mention the contrasting warm and cool tones make this image stand out. Wonderfully composed and processed with excellent clarity and detail throughout. I also like the more subtle color in this.

I'd love to get to Zebra one day--but i have to get to Spooky/Peekaboo first!
Cool shot, John!

The contrasting tones are very nice. Looks like you saw a lot of cool places on your journey!

A beautiful take on this location, John. I especially love the subtle highlights that you have captured here.

I visited this slot canyon last December and your photo makes me want to go back.

Love the contrasting colors. The cool blue color on the right and the nice warm color on the left.

John, looks real nice to me. I like how you got the meshing of the wall bottoms like intertwined fingers. At first I thought that the far rear wall could be darkened a little, but I did not like how that resulted.
