Wood Duck - Nisqually Wildlife Preserve
Stopped by the Nisqually Wildlife Preserve on my way home last night. It was evening light, and I had this beautiful male in breeding plumage in my sights for about 20 seconds - so the framing is not perfect. As a bird photographer wannabe, quick reaction is something I'm working on. My previous habit was not to take a shot until I had an idea it was at least approaching pretty good. The habit of not wasting film dies hard for some us old-timers turned digital doesn't it? Nonetheless, he's so beautiful I just wanted to share.

Very nice image of a Woodduck. I am always amazed at the beautiful colors that this species has.

Nice wood duck image, Janet. Love the contrast of green and straw-colored reeds in the background!
