Need ID
This photo of a woodpecker was taken in Peru several years ago. The tour leader told me when we spotted the bird in all of his years coming there he had not seen this bird, and ask me to take a photo. We were in a screened in room, so I took a couple of quick shots but by the time we got out of the room it took off. Any help will be appreciated. Sorry for the poor quality, but it was shot through a wire screen on Ektachrome and scanned.

Cream-colored Woodpecker? The photo doesn't show the back of the head and – forgive me – looks like it was shot through a screen or something... :biggrin: But that's my guess.

Jim, it was shot through a screen. We were inside a screened in dining room. I took 2 shots from where I stood, and then the bird flew away before I could get out of the room. The tour guide had been coming to the area for over 15 years and this was his first time to see this species of woodpecker.
