Plant ID needed

Today while visiting my local nature area, I came across this plant. I think it's all new growth and I saw no others. It stands maybe 6-8 inches tall and the leaves are about 6 inches long. Its along the American River near Sacramento and in an oak riparian forest setting. I don't think the area actually floods except maybe in extreme circumstnaces. I have no idea what it is. It's rather attractive and for all I know is not native. Can anyone give me an ID on it? Thanks for any help.

It is Arum italicum, whose common name is Lords-and-Ladies. It is native to Europe.

Thanks, Sandy. When does it flower? Anything showiy?

It flowers spring to summer. The flowers are followed by very showy dense clusters of red fruit. Here is a google link to photos of flowers and berries.http://www.google.com/search?q=Arum&hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&biw=1166&bih=878&prmd=imvnsu&source=lnms&tbm=isch&ei=OsfFToPOKoOMigLl-rznBQ&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CBQQ_AUoAQ#hl=en&client=safari&rls=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=%22arum+italicum%22+&oq=%22arum+italicum%22+&aq=f&aqi=g3g-S7&aql=&gs_sm=s&gs_upl=327484l332779l2l333986l3l3l0l0l0l0l288l682l0.1.2l3l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&fp=2e9ba8fa39fb0d9&biw=1166&bih=878
