Northern Emerald
Nikon D300 105mm Macro 1/30sec at F18 ISO 100 adjustments in Capture NX2

This is a teneral Northen Emerald dragonfly that I found newly emerged. It had some green fluid sticking its wings together which I managed to unstick but it left green blobs on the wings so I decided to do a close up of its head and body leaving the green blob outs. I like how the body looks metallic and the wings look really strong almost loke stained glass. Comments warmly welcomed.
Nick.

nice soft light, great detail and a lovely background. I'm not quite sure about the crop, though it perhaps depends how bad the green blobs were

Not a species I've seen myself.

Very sharp! I agree about the wings. I'd love to see the whole insect. Welcome to the forum - looking forward to seeing more.

Very good opening shot, Nick. As already mentioned by Matt the BG on this is just gorgeous and really helps isolate the DF.

Keep em coming :toast:

Great first image Nick. Love the colours and detail. I always find it hard to get a pleasing composition of a dragonfly when just showing its head and abdomen, but I think this works well :toast:

A shame we cannot see the whole insect, but the bonus is the fabulous detail on the bits you have included.

As has already been said Nick, the detail and background are superb but aesthetically I'm afraid the crop doesnt work for me.
