Four-Spotted Chaser
A Four-Spotted Chaser taken back in June...it seems a long time ago now.

I'm not sure what the colourful perch is but the yellow background is from a field of buttercups at the edge of the lake where this one was found.

Canon 7D with Sigma 150mm, f9, 1/125, ISO 400, tripod etc.

All C+C welcomed.

Very sharp image Matt and I think the perch colours compliment the chaser. Perhaps a little more space over the upper wing? They never seem to park their wings parallel do they? :toast: :toast:
Nick.
PS I am inspired by your images and regularly dip into your website.

The flower looks like belonging to a dock (Rumex sp.) maybe Rumex hydrolapathum which favours freshwater banks. Very nice and the dragonfly is not bad as well.

really great detail but all the colours really make this image for me, the pinks on the seedheads almost look exotic

This certainly has all the elements of a good macro image, just needs a touch more room above the upper wing for me, but thats a very minor nit and I'd be well pleased with this. Good work, Matt.

Ditto from me Matt. A bit tight at top but still superb.

Superb Matt. Love the detail, bg, composition and the flower colours. I have the same comments at Nick, as a macro newbie I'm really impressed with your work on your website. Stunning. :toast: :wavey: :jump: I'm really looking forward to the spring, my macro lens is going to get such a hammering!

Superb quality - as always. I agree a little more space up top would be good if you have it.
