From earlier this summer here in BC. The seal is lying on a just submerged rock (the worst kind). View is across the strait of georgia back to the mainland, image probably needs to be viewed really large for the seal to look like anything other than a blob
Processing is only from playing around with saturation, i toned down the blues and upped everything else, i quite like the effect but wonder if people think it looks a little overblown or odd.
Image taken while single handing my sailboat so was pretty pleased with myself that the horizon came out straight, though i may have just taken loads of shots and deleted all the wonky ones, i can't remember now.

Hi Jack, it's quite an attractive image, and I particularly like the cloud formation (and the colours look natural to me) but I think the seal is just a bit too small in the frame. Even on the larger version I wouldn't have been 100% certain it was a seal. An interesting image though.

I can only echo what Matt has said, but I do like the layers running through the image, that aspect of the shot works very well.
May I ask what the structure to the right is, are they cranes?
I like it Jack. I do agree that the seal is very small in the frame and therefore as a stand alone image it may not work as well but, when accompanied by text, I can see this working well as a large spread.

Hi Guys thanks for the comments. I understand the criticism about the size of the seal. I did try a vertical shot with my 300mm but didn't really recall the scene in the same way. Andy yes i think they are cranes, that bit of land is Point Roberts in the US.
