Watkins Glen Falls Redux (C&C Still Appreciated)
Here's my do-over in both 720px and 1000px versions.

Hi Howard. I went back and looked at the first image and compared the two. This one is better. It appears more tastefully sharp and the color seems to pop. One nit-pick, It appears as though the middle portion of your falls has a gray look compared to the more natural white edges. I noticed this immediatly. This can happen in waterfall scenes when when blending a dark exposure with a lighter exposure. If this is the case its an easy fix, just go back and re-blend the lighter file into gray areas.

I agree with Kane on the white exposure. Overall very nice. I might consider a crop just above the second falls too. IMO the top section just doesn't add a lot to the rest of this nice shot. :toast:

Very nice! Love the contrast between the textures and the layers leading to the color.

Actually, Kane, there's no blend here; that's one of those skills I've yet to acquire. I remember the actual falls having the same yellowisyh color in the middle. I don't know what the reason for that is.

I'll be honest and say that this composition doesn't quite work for me. Rather than being drawn through the scene, my eye is drawn from the lower falls straight to the big gray rock and it just stays there. The partially hidden waterfall in the back might work in some scene but it doesn't work for me here. I think I was trying to photograph at this same spot when I was here and soon gave up, as I found it to hard to get both falls in the same shot in a cohesive manner.

What a difference between the two compositions! I much prefer this version, Howard.
I can appreciate the difficulty of getting this shot as Grant noted, but I still like it.
One thing I noticed is the texture of the falls is different than your previous one. Different shots at different shutter speeds?
The previous falls are much brighter, but I prefer the greater texture here. Try selecting that yellowish section and desaturating it to taste.
You might also consider cloning out that bright spot in the foliage near top left. Sharpening is a bit crisp, but I'll assume that this is present on the Web version only.
Those matters aside, this one is ready to go.
