Nice, I haven't seen these in my garden for several years. Lovely colours and pose here. The lichen on the perch is nice although if I was to be picky the position of the perch looks a little unnatural I.e. It looks like a snapped stick that has been placed as a perch rather than a naturally growing branch.

I have never had these in my garden Nick. This is a super image. Colours are lovely, as is the bg and detail. I do agree about the perch looking a bit unnatural though
Thats a cracking image Nick. Ticks all the boxes. I don't have too big an issue with the perch although if you just turned it around so that the lichens are on the bottom side it might improve it. Remind me never to invite that Phil Tomkinson round to my place though . . . . A SUPPER SHOT ???

Very nice, supper - sorry, super - shot. Perhaps a touch of lightening around the eye, especially on the smaller version. The perch does not worry me.

Thats one relaxed looking bird... yes if you are so inclined it may be nice to enhance the natural catchlight a shade. I also feel that the perch is not quite right, hard to put into words, but it looks almost like it has been set up upside down... the lichen should be preferring an uppermost position on the twig, I do hope that makes sense....

Details in the bird look great - it certainly looks very chilled out I spent many happy student days studying lichens and could bore you to death .. but I won't, other than to say that the others who commented are certainly right !!!

Great stick, background and bird! Interesting comments about the lichen. I picked up a few such sticks today and, yes the lichen did appear mainly on the upper surface. However, I frequent parts of Perthshire where the lichen thrives so well that branches appear coated round the total circumference - or is my memory playing tricks?
