A lot to like about this Oscar. I wouldn't crop out all that knot but if you bring the bottom of the image in line with the centre of the knot I think that makes it less distracting but still gives the fence some 'character' (for want of a better word). The robin is lovely and sharp, beautifully lit and the eye has a nice catchlight. Background is also very nice and compliments the bird. The only downside for me would be the head on pose of the robin. I would much prefer to see the head more threequarter on thus giving some shape to the beak. Still, a quality shot.

Gorgeous lighting on this robin and a lot of detail for f5.6. I tend to agree with Robert with its head so you get more of a side profile but then this is what makes it a little different from the usual profile shots. I also like the water drops on the top of the fence. Re the knot - maybe crop at the centre of the eye of the knot which would leave a semi-circular knot? Again this is very personal taste and it takes nothing away from a beautifully lit bird.
Nick.

I agree with Nick about the turn of the head, but you can't have everything. Otherwise a very nice shot.

I'd leave this Xmas Card image just as it is Oscar - if anything, I'd have zoomed out a little to give more space, but a lovely BG and great light on the Robin.

nice colours and light Oscar and the knot doesn't bother me. The lack of a head turn would be my only nit.
