Thanks for sharing these, Stan. I've got to do this trip some day. My favorite is the first one. I love the band of fall color, the lovely light, the stones under the water - all excellent. The third one just doesn't work for me, though. I've become so accustomed to seeing absolutely killer stuff from you that this one just falls short. Not sure what it is that doesn't strike me. Looks like you had a productive trip! :toast:

I say the first one is pretty darn good! I like them in the order presented. Lots of nice lines and color in the first. I like the flow of the second, but the foreground seems to have a lot of space and I find my eye looking for something to grab on to. And the third seems like a lot of information with no real statement. I've tried ot get images from there and I haven't been satisfied with any of my results.

Looks like top notch processing in all three to my eye.

Stan, I LIKE the 3rd one! On the second, the water is really blue on my monitor. But the third one reminds me of why I want to go back!! Wasn't that just the most awesome place ever!

Number one for me!

Of the three, my preference is the first with the angles and colors. Processing looks good to me.
In#1, the two rocks on the bottom edge hold me up a little (dunno why since they are under water). Cropping them may give some bare water at the bottom which aids in the eye to flow down the canyon, at least from my perspective.
#2 could be warmed a smidgen. The water flow seems to go a little too close to the right wall. Do you have more to add to the right side?
#3- the right wall appears wet and glare hides the colors. Did you use a cpl? Not the typical narrows shot I've seen, so is good in that respect.

All really nice, Stan, though #1 is my favorite. Maybe it's just me (check that...I'm SURE it's just me) but when I see images like this the ones that really drop my jaw are the ones that are looking upstream with the silky white flowing towards the lens. No logical reason other than personal opinion. Maybe it's the fisherman in me that's used to working upstream and that's the view I'm most comfortable with. Just my 2 cents worth.

I'll have to go with #1 Stan. To me it is the quintessential Narrows, the high walls, in the water, with the great color in the trees to contrast with the rock walls. I like the low perspective that draws the viewer right into the image.

Number one is my favorite.

I love #1! They look a slight contrasty to me and I would drop the blue saturation a bit. The blues in the water look a bit intense. Cool shots, Stan! Wish I could have made it to Zion this year. :frown:

I have to go with #1 too as my favorite. Love the fall foliage, warm light on the canyon walls and the low-looking angle of the river with the subtle rapids. Nice trio of images!

I like the first one and agree with Doug about the first couple of rocks...cut those out and you've got a real wall hanger. The white caps do have a bit of overdone cyan but it could be my monitor.

I hope you don't mind Stan but I'm trying to be a little more up front with my comments thanks to Chris Rice.

Don't take your critique style from Chris--If you're gonna be mean, it's gotta come from within, Jack; you gotta feel it, man!

I am with the voters on #1 and I would explore cropping up perhaps as far as the upper rock on the left edge, but not because the water/rocks being cropped are distracting; rather, I think that would help accentuate the white caps even more leading in from the lower right as well as the shore line leading in from the lower left, creating a strong triangle water shape with great yellow in the trees right there, and the narrow passage way at the water's horizon where all the lines lead nicely placed off center and low right. I really think this is image is a winner and has great design, Stan!
