Great-crested Grebe
Thanks for the comments on the Robin. This was taken at the LWC during October. This Grebe was swimming towards the boardwalk which I was lying on, and the colours in the water are trees reflected in the water.

Techs:
Nikon D300s
Nikon 200-400mm
Resting on boardwalk
F5.6
1/320s
ISO 800

It really feels as though the grebe is swimming towards you and the colour of the water compliments the bird very well. Well seen and captured sir!

nicely taken Oscar. The grebe is perhaps a little high in the frame for me, though I can see you were trying to include its reflection. I like the colours and patterns of the water.

A little more space could be nice but the reflection adds alot!

Nice feeling of the movement towards you and I like the isolation of the head of the bird. Good stuff.

I think portrait format might have suited this one better, and made it less tight top and bottom. However, I do like the colours on the water as well, so it's a tough choice.

Hello Oscar.

Nice capture and the colour detail and composition all work nicely for me.

It is a lovely image with the bow wave and the reflected colour and the low viewpoint but, as with a robin shot you posted earlier, I feel that a slight head turn would improve the look of the bird. They certainly seem to be very confiding birds at the LWC.

Thanks for the comments.

Robert yes the grebes can be confiding as they need to swim under a boardwalk to get to one of the favourite fishing areas. That said, this was still taken with a converter on the 200-400

Lovely golden colour in the water. I agree a head turn would have helped.
