Gotcha, gotcha! Ribble estuary will have SEO in the winter months, Hesketh marsh area might be productive.

Ribble? As in North England? Could be cool. Thanks all, Woralby looks good for a day out. I did once see some between Malham and Settle but only had a 24.105 at the time...not sure if any still frequent the area.

Ribble estuary near Southport area. Try RSPB web site for reserves will give map of area.

Hi you would be better off looking in the NE not the NW you won't get close to them at Southport. I did get some images in 2009/10 in land from Blackpool but have not had a look to see if they are back yet.

In winter the owls tend to move off the moors and move onto the coastal saline marshlands, and like the winter harriers have traditional/regular roosting/feeding spots. We get winter roosts of SEO on the Berks downs, but that doesn't help you much! - I would suggest you monitor the Birdlines website for updates. Ideally what you need is a high amount of rainfall followed by a few sunny days, this pushes the voles/mice onto higher ground/higher concentrations which makes the hunting easier for the owls.

Thanks all. I think I know where to find them now and will spend as much time as I can shooting them.
