Motion Blur
This was the first satisfactory image I took when experimenting with slow shutter speeds. It is of a flock of Black Headed Gulls (not that you could tell) just after taking off from a roost on a lake near me. I liked the image shown, which is a crop, and I have been back down to try to replicate it full frame but with no luck yet.

wow, that's great Robert. The patterns made by the wings are fantastic. I think it would work better without the background detail showing and, ideally, without the bird on the right being clipped by the edge of the frame. But this is still very impressive.

Love pushing boundries... the wispy almost 'silk' effect is great as Matt says it would have been better without the detail in the bg, not an easy one to get around though... I think if you can either crop or clone the lighter patches near the bottom edge it would improve... minor things apart... Its a great image...

I love it.

Really excellent - almost like a smoke effect from the wings.

Robert

Well judged image and they are not easy to pull off. OK minor nits but a very pleasing result.

Yes, definitely some thinking outside the box on display here. Great result, minor nits already covered.

Very cool image! I agree with previous comments but thus is one image you can attempt again and again and get different results every time. It will be worth keep trying.

Very artistic and successful in my eye. I would crop from the left so that both birds at the edges are clipped. I don't mind the background.
