I am considering using a camera adapter to take photographs of Bald Eagles through my Vortex Razor HD spotting scope with a Canon 7D. Eagles are still endangered in New Jersey and it is unlawful to get closer than 1000ft. I would appreciate any comments and/or suggestions before I buy an adapter. Thanks,

The practice of focusing a digital camera's lens on the virtual image produced by the eyepiece of a spotting scope or other telescope is called "Digiscoping". It is practiced by thousands of wildlife photographers worldwide. The most helpful list I've found on the topic can be found at :

This link may be helpful. I digiscoped for several years, using a Pentax 80 ED scope with 24x fixed power eyepiece. The lower power, fixed power eyepieces may work better for you, it did for me. The zoom eyepiece was not very good for digiscoping. I used a Nikon 4500 Coolpix camera. The results I got with digiscoping were OK for documentation photos, and some made nice prints. Since moving on to digital SLR cameras and lenses, I haven't gone back to digiscoping.
