Leucistic Coot
1DsM2, 400/2.8 +1.4, GT3530 + BWG.
ISO400, 1/320 @ f8, Fill Flash 550EX + BB @ -1 1/3.
Raw to Lightroom 3, sharpen for web in Elements 10.

Hi,

Another image of our local Leucistic Coot, again not the ideal conditions but conditions that never the less allowed a reasonable amount of detail in the whites with a little help from the fill flash to lift the blacks...

Cheers

I've never seen one of these Phil, though I did photograph a leucisitic blackbird once. It's a nice image, well exposed and a nice neutral background.

Cracking image Phil! It made me laugh cos I am in the middle of decorating using an off white emulsion and it looks as though it got splattered with it!  It must stand out from the crowd though.
Nick.

There was a blackbird around here with the same problem, took me months to work out what the bird was (pied something i figured!). Very well caught, I wonder if there is a market for shots like that, seeing as a coot must be rare.

Nice shot, Phil, and nicely presented, as always.

Cracking photo Phil. Love the POV and reflections. :toast: Unusual-usual subject, but superbly executed if you get my drift!

Very unusual subject, I've never heard of or seen a leucistic coot before. Lovely photo, nice pov and composition. Do the other coots react differently to it?
