On my new iMac running Lion, after I download images from my compact flash card (via a reader) into LR3, the card is gets automatically unmounted. This is a pain because then have to remount the card to erase the images. Have others seen this and found a better solution? Is there a preference somewhere that I've missed?

Mark: I'm guessing you have the box checked in the upper left part of the import dialog that says to eject the card after import. Here's a screen capture......

I thought there was a well DUH lurking! The old preferences didn't get transferred to the new machine. Thanks.

It is recommended that you reformat the CF card in camera rather than simply erasing files from the computer (or in the camera). I have my Macs set up to un-mount the card/reader after the files are transferred and reformat the card every time it is inserted in the camera.

I agree with Richard. I always reformat in the camera instead of erasing in the IMAC. I have been told that small artifacts remain on the card until it is reformated and they can in time tend to screw up future shots in any number of small ways.

I'm in agreement with Richard and Merle, Enjoy the convenience of auto-eject and erase through reformat in camera,
