I have just today downloaded a free trial of Adobe CS5.1, but when I try to open it, it brings up the loading screen, and then when it says "Starting-up plug-ins, Scripting Support" an error message comes up saying "Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 has encountered a problem and needs to close.
This also happens when I try to use Photoshop Elements 8. It will not let me on to the Organiser.
As well as this, I had a problem with bridge. Whenever I tried to download images onto my computer, it said "Adobe photo downloaded has encountered a fatal error. Error code: c0000005 (I cannot remember what the address was though). I uninstalled bridge and then tried to download CS5.1 so I could get bridge again, but it has only made things worse!
What should I do?
Thanks
Oscar

I'm sorry you have encountered this problem. Adobe installers and uninstallers can be rather troublesome. Try uninstalling ALL Abobe (including Flash Player and anything else you may have) software on your computer, manually check that all the folders with Photoshop and Elements content have been removed (probably there will be some left behind) and then reinstalling.

What system are you running Oscar ?

Hi Oscar - you may need to download system cleaners for Adobe - there are files on your system that you cannot find/see and they are most likely what are causing your problem.
You could also have a registry key problem, but first we need to know your OS version.
You can PM/email me if you like

Sounds like your experiencing the old "DLL hell" Oscar. But knowing your OS would be useful as others have said. Hope you get this fixed.

I'd first clean your system as Andy suggested: http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
If your hardcore, clean the registry for any Adobe products in all registry hives, but be very careful, you can hose a PC nicely this way! Search in regedit for "adobe" and delete each key in turn.
Additionally I'd suggest taking a system restore point before doing anything with your PC in future, its a good tip to use before doing any big changes or installs. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948247. You can then rollback to a known good state if you encounter such a problem in future.
