Lycaena phlaeas
Hi folks,
I was hoping to post something from the new camera, but I haven't taken any meaningful shots with it yet! I've finally got it set up the way I like it, so maybe I'll have some new stuff to show you soon...!
Here's one from the Summer, these little guys don't sit still for long.

Love it. ! Especially the positioning in the frame.
I think you did the right thing not cropping the heather out.

Hello Dawn.
Quite simply beautiful, composition, light, and the setting couldn't be better.

Beautiful image Dawn! The lower wing is OOF but I know from personal experience how difficult these butterflies are to get completely in focus as they settle with their wings partly open so having the upper wing and body sharp was the right decision. I agree with John about the heather in the photo it really adds to the image.

Such jumpy insects and difficult to capture Dawn. Nicely executed shot and I agree with John, leaving the heather in has balanced the comp. Nice BG too.

Dawn
They are not easy subjects by any means, your image shows the subject at it's best.

a nicely balanced composition Dawn and I like the colours. A touch more DOF or a change of angle might have helped the left hand wings, but otherwise very nice.
