Yes, this IS Sopris! I've shot this multiple times. It dominates the skyline as you head south from Carbondale on Hwy-133. And BTW, The Cantina in Aspen will do just fine.

Unfortunately, when I angled the view in the above image, the "Mount Sopris" monicker vanished. This photo is one taken not too far from where JG took his.

Sweet shots, all of you!!! I sadly don't have much of anything except a bunch of snapshots of Sopris, most taken out the car window while driving at 60 mph on the way to or from Aspen! DOH!

I think I can solve this whole mess by just having Darren buy dinner for everyone on the CNP site. Sound good? :toast: Of course, that means we all get tortellini and ramen leftover from his Canada trip!!

Just messing with you Big D!

Darren, do you have any alfredo sauce for the tortellinis?

Geez, this thread took a wrong turn somewhere...

Chimichangas...Mmmmm.. Now to figure out who's buying!

It all makes sense now. This is called Hawk Peak according to my Aspen Crested Butte Gunnison Recreation Topo Map. The elevation is indeed 12,793. Looks like CNP owes Darren some Chimichangas and tomato meat sauce at the Cantina in Aspen. Robbie George

There's something called Hawk "Benchmark," but the peak seen here ain't it. This is Sopris. After all this wrangling, we might have to go Dutch! Me thinks maybe a summer CNP outing somewhere around Aspen/Carbondale? Then a group dinner at the Cantina? Start saving now, it'll probably be about $20/person, not including the liquor I'm sure you guys will consume with gusto.

Hey, just because Darren refuses to believe that this is Sopris  doesn't mean we can't have an outing to the Aspen area and stop off for some chimichangas, margaritas and warm sopapillas.
