Mussel thief ..
An oystercatcher sneaking off with a mussel .. Always good photographing these with the bill providing such a splash of colour.

You're right Dave - that beak never fails to liven an image up.

There will be the classic nit picked over the birds facing slightly away from the camera, but for me I like the light and I like that little bit of movement in the birds foot.

I like the movement in the foot, and I like that mush in the foreground as well. I won't even mention the bird facing slightly away from camera

I won't mention it either  Otherwise a very nice behavioural image.

Well, I suppose I could try and claim it was portraying the bird sneaking away from the scene of the crime, but you are of course all quite right !!!!

Superb behavioural shot of an Oyster catcher doing what they do best.........catching a mussel! I will mention the lack of head turn.....it really doesn't matter with this shot it's obviously engrossed in its food! Cracking image Sir! :toast: :toast:

Lovely to see the mussel bed, really nice environmental.

It doesn't matter that it is facing away from you. You have caught the behaviour perfectly and as all the attention goes straight to the eye area it works very well.

Great title, which suits the image (an the fact it is heading out of the picture). Love it!
