16 Days in Shenandoah
Over the course of 16 days Shenandoah transformed a tapestry of color to a white wonderland with hints of fall's remaining colors, with patches of color in the valleys and lower slopes remaining intact a good week later. I would welcome your thoughts on which of these images speaks most to you, and/or which do not! Hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. http://www.edfuhr.com/gallery/shenandoah-2011/

Thanks for sharing some great images. I was there during the snow in October as well. See my earlier post. I recently took the Whiteoak Canyon trail from the top and I recognize those flowing creek images. I really like how it comes down a hill gradually. Your photo answered one question I had. I wonder what the trees look like here in the Fall ? I've hiked the trail from the bottom up to photograph the frozen waterfalls in the winter but never made it to that spot with the arched bridge before. What time period were you there to grab these images near that bridge ? I want to make a note for 2012.

Can you advise the location of your other water falls ?. I don't recognize them.

Thanks

Thanks, Richard!

Andrew, I thought the colors were especially good this year. I have seen years where it is nowhere near as colorful and virbrant. I will doublecheck my files but I think it was about the 3rd week of October. Not sure where you are based, but I find the best colors are usually as the colors are just beginning to show in the flatlands, which is usually a good 2+ weeks earlier than they go prime. Much depends obviously on the weather. After the snow and storms, everything was blown down within a couple of days, if that. The other falls in this series are all from White Oak and Rose RIver trails. I do have others on my site from Dark Hollow and others but I think I have all of this labeled. Hope to see out there next fall!
