I drove out to Los Angeles for Thanksgiving. Ran into some rain and light snow in Utah, that blew by and left a gorgeous late afternoon sun and clouds to produce a nice view near Green River, Utah.

Hey Larry,

Yep, the light here is gorgeous, and the distant scene is pretty compelling as well. A lot of subtle beauty here, but I suspect the lack of comments relates to the lack of immediate interest in the lower right 1/3 of the scene. I can certainly imagine myself wandering around this area enjoying the experience and expansive views, and in that regard it's a successful image.

This is certainly a representative image of a great deal of the Utah desert. (Hey, it can't all be gravity-defying arches, red rock monoliths and slot canyons!) I like the diagonal lines that seem to be formed by the clumps of brush in the middle of the photo. The string of background hills is also quite complex and difficult to appreciate in this small image size unless you look closer. The clouds in the upper right help balance what might have been otherwise a left-heavy scene with the tree on that side. While not a photographer crowd-pleasing shot with blazing red skies and alpenglow this is instead a depiction of the sometimes vast, rawer and subtle qualities of nature.

Really like the detail and those clouds really add to the image.

I like the subtle beauty of the desert and this shows that well Larry. This might look really sweet as a black and white. Oh, and welcome to the forum
