Ok, here's my try at a shot from the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farms in Woodburn. I went 2 weeks ago and was ahead of the height of the blooms. I did get lucky enough to get an interesting sunrise (but no view of Mt. Hood) so I decided to play off of that and try to provide a hint of the tulip color to come.

The sky is wonderful Geoff...although I wish to see some color in the flowers...doesn't have to be a bunch...just a bit more than displayed here. I think a flash might have been nice here.

Hi Rick - the fg color is really more apparent at full res. This small web sized image doesn't do it justice. However, my intent was not to have the foreground be too lit up as I wanted it to be a "suggestion" of what was to come. Thanks for looking and I always appreciate the comments!

Geoff,
I like this image for what it is. Personally I don't need any color at all. Great interesting silhouettes.

Geoff,
The color doesn't bother me either. What I do wish for is to see the blades on the windmill in a different position so all three would stand out. I don't know though, maybe Im just nitpicking.

Hi Erik - You know, I wanted those darned windmill blades to be in a different position also. But they don't turn freely and I thought it would be rather obnoxious to try and change their position without permission. Darn!

I'd love to see a print of this, Geoff... that sky is very nice.... the flowers are a little too dark for my taste (sky is a bit overpowering here) but you accomplished what you wanted - so then, well done

Thanks, John. If I were to try and lighten the foreground to bring out the flowers anymore than what you see then it might also bring out the very uncomplimentary bare area (road) that exists on the left and center in the foreground. If I brightened the flowers only it might look a little too unnatural. So I think I might be caught between the proverbial "rock and a hard place" in that regard.

I haven't printed this up large yet, just on 5x7 greeting card stock where I did lighten the fg a bit and it looked pleasing but not stunning. IMO it has more impact when silhouetted.
